How Vent Art Helped Me Process My Thoughts & Emotions

I'm aware that this post is more on the personal side, but I never planned to shy away from more serious and personal topics that might help another artist.

To get into it I will start firstly by saying that vent art is a healthy way to process thoughts and emotions in my opinion. 

I'm not sure if it's just me or if other artists struggle with this, but I have a hard time expressing my emotions sometimes if it's not along the lines of a panic/anxiety attack. I sometimes seem unempathetic or emotionless to people sometimes, especially if they'd gotten close to me and aren't watching me mask with a light-hearted tone of behavior. 

My main way of expressing myself became my art and drawings. I most commonly draw myself as two different people clashing. I'm not 100% why I use that theme the most, but my best guess is to show how confusing it feels a lot of the time. My thoughts, ideas, impulses, and emotions are always like two different people fighting to be reality and such....

Gift Ideas For Artists

Whether it be for a traditional or a digital artist, getting gifts for your artist friend, kid, sibling, or whatever can be a challenge when you don't know much about what they'd like or want. In case you didn't get a list, here are a few gift ideas for artists.

1. Traditional Art Supplies

Depending on what kind of artist they are, this might range from brushes, paint, and canvases to pens, markers, and sketchbooks. It's important to observe what kind of art they actually create before choosing what supplies to get them. 

If you want even better results though, I'd suggest taking a stroll through Michael's and ask a worker to assist you in finding what you might need for the artist you're trying to gift. I suggest Michael's because it's a wonderland of arts and crafts, but if you'd rather go somewhere nearby and a bit more affordable I would suggest the arts and crafts section at Walmart.

5 Things You Can Do To Combat Art Block

Beginning this blog, I had to think of things that all artists can relate to or might need help with. It's not always easy being an artists and art block is one of the many things that can get in your way. Many tips and tricks exist to counteract this all but common issue, but these are my Top five ways on how to combat art block. 

1. Draw What You Like

Sometimes art block occurs when you are uninspired or lack the excitement and motivation to draw. What I have found is that using the things you like can quite literally pull you out of art block. I had been in art block for months on end and only made drawings occasionally so that content was being pumped out. I like drawing, but sometimes it can feel like a chore and induce immense art block. It's not the best idea to force yourself to draw things you're not even excited to draw and can even make the art block last longer.
